Learning Unreal Engine C++ is harder than it should be. Documentation is scattered, tutorials often teach bad habits, and it’s difficult to know what professional Unreal code should actually look like. This course gives you a structured roadmap through Unreal Engine C++, teaching industry best practices, engineering principles, and debugging skills you need to confidently continue building games long after the course has finished.

Every system demystified. Every decision explained. Every lesson builds your confidence.

Throughout the course you’ll build a complete third-person action game while learning the core Unreal Engine and C++ concepts used in professional development. From architecture and gameplay systems to debugging and optimization, each topic is introduced in context so you understand not only how it works, but why it matters.

Whether you have been programming for a decade or are only just getting started…as one of my students you will learn everything you need to succeed in programming with Unreal Engine. You will be taught industry standards and best practices that you can take into your professional career as a game developer. During the lessons every programming decision will be explained, including alternative approaches, pitfalls and common mistakes. This way you can confidently reason about your own code after this course has finished. We don’t hide compiler errors, crashes or bugs - we solve them together. That’s what real game development looks like, and learning how to debug is just as important as learning how to write code.

The course packs 15+ years of Unreal Engine C++ experience into a structured and industry-proven learning path. Besides the lessons there are 7 challenging assignments to complete. Each assignment reinforces the concepts covered in the lessons and asks the student to explore the engine on their own. This truly builds the required skills to become a competent developer with the engine. As a result my courses have been adopted by dozens of AAA game studios around the world for their onboarding and training needs.

What makes this course different?

Every decision explained

Understand not only what we’re building, but why every programming decision is made, including alternative approaches and common pitfalls.

Learn Through Real Development

Build a complete game while solving compiler errors, debugging crashes, and designing systems exactly as you would in a real production environment.

Become an Independent Developer

Every lesson builds your confidence until you can continue building Unreal Engine projects without relying on tutorials.

Is this course for you?

Whether you have only just started programming or well over a decade, you will learn something new during this course. It is recommended to know the basic fundamentals of programming such as functions and variables, but no prior C++ experience is necessary. Knowing the basics of any other programming language or even just Blueprints is enough to get started.

Even experienced Unreal developers discover new techniques and best practices throughout the course.

The Ideal Student:

  • Experienced programmers transitioning to Unreal Engine.
  • Intermediate-level Unreal Developers looking to improve their C++ skills and learn new tricks
  • Programmers moving from another engine to Unreal Engine
  • Students in game development (or computer science)
  • Technical artists who want to confidently work in Unreal Engine C++.

Built Around Professional Development

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by Unreal Engine, unsure which tutorials to trust, or frustrated that every resource teaches a different approach, you’re not alone. This course fixes those problems with a structured roadmap built on 15+ years of professional Unreal Engine development experience.

Structured & Industry-proven

Well-structured, up-to-date, and reliable information for C++ in Unreal Engine is hard to come by. Many programming concepts will take years to discover or fully understand on your own. This course curriculum fast-tracks your entry into Unreal Engine by covering every programming concept you need to know in day-to-day development. Save yourself hundreds of hours by learning Unreal C++ the right way from day one.

Learn development the Epic way

Learn how professional Unreal Engine code is structured, why systems are built the way they are, and how to write code that’s easy to maintain as your projects grow. Built on over 15 years of Unreal Engine experience, including time at Epic Games.

Gain independence, escape tutorial hell

Throughout the course lessons we encounter compilation issues and bugs, and solve them together. You’ll complete challenging assignments that reinforce what you’ve learned while encouraging you to explore the engine independently. Along the way you’ll learn to use debugging tools, asserts, verification, and logging to stay ahead of problems. Every lesson builds your independence as a programmer.

Why This Course Exists

This course exists because I spent years learning Unreal Engine the hard way. Good documentation was difficult to find, many public resources were outdated or incomplete, and it was often unclear why Unreal Engine worked the way it did. I built the course I wish I’d had when I started learning Unreal Engine C++. One that explains not only what to do, but why every decision is made and helping you understand the deeper fundamentals.

Too much of the information available online is fragmented, outdated, or teaches shortcuts that don’t hold up in professional development. That makes it difficult to build a solid foundation and even harder to know which advice you can trust. Instead of piecing together dozens of tutorials, this course gives you a structured learning experience built on industry best practices and years of real Unreal Engine development.

My goal isn’t simply to teach you how to build the game you’ll create in this course. It’s to help you understand Unreal Engine well enough that you can confidently build the next one on your own. Every lesson is designed to develop your reasoning as a programmer so you can evaluate different approaches, debug problems effectively, and make sound engineering decisions long after the course has finished.
